That’s it for coding this year. Yesterday saw the last class of Term 4. We hope that our young coders all enjoyed the term’s activities and challenges.

Tuesday was the final class of Term 4 for Kohimarama School. Thanks to everyone for an awesome term and a great first year at the school. We hope you all enjoyed the coding challenges and activities.

Looking ahead, we will again be running after-school coding classes at Kohimarama School next year.

There will be eight, weekly sessions on Tuesdays. They will run from 12 February to 2 April. The cost for the term is $210, which includes a computer for use during class time. There are places currently available for students in Years 5 to 8 (in 2019). If you’re interested in joining us – or have any questions – please let us know at info@codechampions.nz

Every year Technovation invites teams of girls to learn and apply the skills needed to solve real-world problems through digital technology.

If your daughter’s keen on digital tech, maybe you should check out the website. They’ll work with a team of friends to create, build and market a mobile app – no prior experience is necessary.

This project is generally run through schools (students don’t have to be with Code Champions). So, you’ll need to enthuse your daughter’s teacher to participate. However, we’re happy to help where we can – and can perhaps provide some mentoring.

Join a global community of 15,000 girls from 100+ countries and lead the change. Registrations have already opened, with the competition officially kicking off in January 2019.

As you know, there’s a primary teachers’ strike planned for Monday, 12 November. We have two classes on Mondays.

In consultation with the schools, we have decided to do the following:

Meadowbank School – Classes as normal (running alongside Club Meadowbank)

Mt Eden Normal Primary School –  Classes cancelled (make-up classes to be held in the last week of term, 17 December)

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our holiday programme last week. We had an awesome time – we hope you did, too!

During the three days at Churchill Park School, students tackled a range of coding challenges, from Minecraft adventure maps to missile command bases, mini games to making jam sandwiches.

The feedback’s been very positive, so we’ll definitely be doing more holiday courses. We’ll keep you posted on what we decide.

Just a reminder that Code Champions is hosting a three-day coding course during the Term 3 holidays – and places are filling fast, so don’t miss out.

It’s on Monday 1^st to Wednesday 3^rd October and will take place at Churchill Park School. Each day participants will tackle a coding project, plus we’ll have a demo of VR goggles and robot races. Classes are for students across Years 4 to 8 and cover varying levels of coding skill and experience.

Well, that’s it for Term 3. The last coding class at St Heliers School was yesterday (it’s an early finish this term with the school show pushing us a week earlier). We hope everyone’s enjoyed this term’s course – the first session yesterday was a hive of coding activity!

Looking ahead to Term 4, we will be continuing classes on Thursdays. It will be an eight week course, from 18 October to 6 December.
